The Velvet Underground originally came about as an outlet for owner Amy and her friend's own vintage and thrift addictions. After launching her clothing brand HMU apparel, and shopping for vintage fabrics to use to create the clothing, Amy decided to create a side hustle, selling vintage clothing as well as upcycling it.

 

The side hustle then took off and after scoring the lease on the warehouse space underneath the HMU headquarters the side hustle became a full-fledged hustle which is now not only a vintage store but a cafe, music venue, and community which we know and love as The Velvet Underground.

The vision behind the new brand and space is to create a mecca and hub dedicated to promoting self-expression through fashion art and music, as well as promoting sustainability, health, and kindness on the largest platform we can reach.
