For today's inspirational woman we're going global! Alejandra is a hand-poke tattoo artist from Spain and is currently a second-year Fine Arts student in Madrid. Her journey of hand-poking began when she was 16 when she began tattooing her sister. After high school, she decided to move to Madrid to study art and make her way into the tattoo industry.
She is very passionate about exploring new techniques, so is constantly trying to learn different skills. Right now she's most interested in ceramics, oil painting and printmaking. Here's our chat with her
1. Where’d you grow up and where do you live now?
I've lived in Malaga for most of my life except for the 3 years I spent in a small town on the outskirts of Barcelona when I was a kid. I now live in Madrid.
2. What is your definition of strength?
I would say I feel the strongest when I find solutions to my problems and when I can keep my energy intact no matter what happens around me.
3. What is something that’s important to you now that never used to be?
It's very important for me now to try new things and go out of my comfort zone, especially since I moved to Madrid.
4. How would you describe your style?
I think I'm still trying to find my style so right now I would say it's pretty eclectic. I'm just trying to learn a lot in hopes that my style will find me.
5. Favourite food to cook at home?
I love to make tofu with veggies and peanut sauce.
6. What’re 3 books on your bookshelf?
La sombra del viento, El juego del ángel and The da Vinci code. I like novels.
7. What’s something you want to accomplish in the next year?
I'm moving to Berlin next year for Erasmus so I just hope it goes well and I get to have a fun time and work on some cool projects. I would also like to have more people know my tattoos around Europe so I could travel as a guest in tattoo shops.
8. Tell us something people would find surprising about you.
I remember all of my dreams and have all of them written down on my notes app.
9. Favourite movie?
I don't know if it's my favourite but The Truman show is a movie that I would watch a million times and enjoy it every time.
10. How do you want people to remember you?
As someone who is passionate about what they do and works to achieve their goals, someone that is kind to people and animals and cares about their family and friends.
