WOMAN WEDNESDAY With Jessica Cochrane

Today we have Jessica Cochrane.
Jessica is a former youth in care, BSW graduate, and an Indigenous Youth Support Worker for an Indigenous Child and Family Agency in Victoria BC. She specifically works with 16+ youth, organizing youth transition conferences. As her work suggests Jessica has a passion for helping others.  She also has a passion for creativity and is highly ambitious, and is the co-owner of a small drywall taping company.  On top of this, she plans to go to law school in the future.
You can find her and her partner's drywall company on Instagram at @strategicdrywall. To find out more information or to support the youth organization she works for find them at  http://www.metis.ca/
Here's our chat with her.
1. Where’d you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up in Winnipeg MB, where it snows (A lot!). I now live in Victoria BC, and I gotta say being surrounded by the ocean and by all these beautiful parks is so nice!
2. What is your definition of strength?
To me strength is getting back up after getting knocked down, and showing dedication and courage no matter the cost.
3. What is something that’s important to you now that never used to be?
Wisdom! I search for it like it's gold or silver. Before, I didn't think as much about my actions or the things I would say as deeply.
4. How would you describe your style?
My style I'd say is colourful, cute, and business casual.
5. Favourite food to cook at home?
Lately I've been vibing with scalloped potatoes. To me it feels like an accomplishment to be able to make it from scratch.
6. What’re 3 books on your bookshelf?
Fear Less. It's an Anthology, so each chapter is written by a different inspiring women!
That Sounds Fun by Annie F Downs
The Psalms and Proverbs
7. What’s something you want to accomplish in the next year?
I have been hoping to pursue a law education, so in the next year I hope to write the LSAT and to put together some applications.
8. Tell us something people would find surprising about you:
I don't talk about this much, but I am a former youth in care
9. Favourite movie?
The movie Yes man, Jim Carey is hilarious!
10. How do you want people to remember you?
I want to be remembered as a kind person, and as someone who made a difference. I like when people say I portray positivity and brighten things up for others.
