WOMAN WEDNESDAY With Claire Stenham-Brown From The Turmeric Trailer

Today we have the culinary extraordinaire behind @theturmerictrailer.

Claire is a Michelin-star trained chef from the UK. She specializes in Vegan and Vegetarian cooking, inspired by her travels around the world.

After spending years searching for a compatible diet for her partner who suffers with autoimmune disease, she found that eating a plant-based diet helped both her and her partner in ways neither of them expected and set them on a path to healing.

The Turmeric Trailer is the product of combining her passion to eat and create, delicious & nutritious meals for people.

Living in the adventure capital of Canada, she wanted to be able to support and nourish the awesome people who make this playground home.

You used to able to find her food truck in the streets of downtown Squamish and at all sorts of events and festivals but when 2020 hit she had to pivot the business to offer online ready meals which look like the most amazing ready-to-go meals we have ever seen btw!! Go check out her mouth-watering creations on her Instagram and website!

Here's our chat with her

1. Where’d you grow up and where do you live now?

Born in the UK, spent 7 years travelling Asia + Australasia before settling in Squamish 4 years ago

2. What is your definition of strength?

Softness = Strength. I never used to feel that way, I bought into the typical ideas of masculine strength, emotionally, physically. Now I see the strength in the softness of things.

3. What is something that’s important to you now that never used to be?

Self-Care 100%. I was into burnout, aggressively pursuing goals, charging at life full-on + punishing my body and mind for not keeping up with my expectations for myself. Self-care + softening has shown me the importance of body-mind balance/alignment.

4. How would you describe your style?

Yikes. I would love to say I have a style! But I'm allllll about comfort and practicality. Whatever feels good on + fits the bill. You can often find me in a pair of tattered jeans and an oversized hoodie/raincoat

5. Favourite food to cook at home?

Mmmm all about the Asian food at home. I spent so much time travelling + picking up gorgeous recipes for noodle soups, spicy fresh salads and stir-fries. That's my go-to - quick, fresh + vibrant

6. What’re 3 books on your bookshelf?

The Unwinding - Jackie Morris

The map of consciousness explained - David R Hawkins

The body keeps the score - Bessel Van Der Kock

7. What’s something you want to accomplish in the next year?

Continue to keep my life calibrated to the best of my abilities, within the current circumstance. Work/life balance, my relationship, my community, my service to others, my self-care.

8. Tell us something people would find surprising about you:

I'm always in my head. I'm very distracted by my thoughts. You might often find me wearing 2 pairs of pants or driving the wrong way down the road...

9. Favourite movie?

Im, not a super movie buff so I wouldn't say there's a favourite. But I do really enjoy films by

Wes Anderson + Taika Waititi

10. How do you want people to remember you?

As someone who was always evolving
